Evidence demonstrates that research active NHS organisations have better health outcomes. This is why Research and Innovation is embedded within the NHS constitution and is instrumental to our LUHFT mission to work together to deliver outstanding healthcare.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT) made a significant contribution to the national COVID-19 research effort. We supported recruitment of the highest number of people into the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine study in the country, designed and delivered the national platform study, AGILE, for testing novel treatments for COVID-19 and ensured that the majority of our COVID-19 patients were offered the opportunity to participate in research.
Our Ambition over the next three years is for LUHFT to achieve and maintain a position in the upper quartile of research active NHS organisations, benchmarked against similar large research active Trusts. In collaboration with our university partners, we will achieve a balanced portfolio of cutting edge clinical and translational applied research and innovation projects, which deliver healthcare and societal benefits for our local population.
