Congratulations to the Radiology department at Aintree Hospital, who has received amazing feedback after a recent external quality standard inspection. Not only have they been re-certificated with the internationally recognised standard ISO 9001:2015, the service was also reported to be an exemplar and will be used as a benchmark in reviews of other trusts.
The ISO has now been held by Aintree Radiology for over 24 years, ensuring the department constantly strives to improve and provide the best quality service for its patients.
Becky Hanlon, Divisional Medical Director for Diagnostic and Support Services, said: “I am really proud of the department for once again receiving this certification for another three years. Despite the pressures caused by COVID-19, the Radiology department at Aintree have continued to provide an exemplary service for our patients and it’s wonderful that they have been recognised for that.
“Special thanks go to Jackie Lloyd, Quality Manager, who led on the inspection, and also the quality audit team: Hannah Mason, Emma Finnegan, Jessica Chahal, Glen Thompson and Kate Holland.”
Each area within the Radiology department: CT/MRI, Ultrasound/Breast Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, General Radiography, Interventional Radiology, DEXA and satellite services, was audited. The audit required various in-depth reviews, such as management and governance processes, customer satisfaction, risks and quality assurance.
It was reported that there were no non-conformities or opportunities for improvement raised during the entire audit, and the auditor praised colleagues for their professionalism and a friendly open approach, commenting that Aintree Radiology “sets the bar for other departments to aspire to”.
There are now plans to expand this certification across Imaging throughout Liverpool University Hospitals. Well done, Aintree Radiology!
