COVID-19 vaccine

Who can get the COVID-19 vaccine?

The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus.

As of 8 December, the vaccine is being offered in some hospitals to:

  • some people aged 80 and over who already have a hospital appointment in the next few weeks
  • people who work in care homes
  • health care workers at high risk.

Please wait to be contacted

The NHS will notify you when it’s your turn to have the vaccine. It’s important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then. In the coming weeks, if you are in the ‘higher risk’ categories, you will be contacted by the NHS by either a letter, text message or telephone call and invited to have the vaccination. This will either be at hospital, or in a community setting.

For further information, please refer to the COVID-19 Vaccine Questions and Answers fact sheet, or visit the national COVID-19 vaccination information page at www.nhs.uk/CovidVaccine.
