Move to new Royal captured in BBC documentary

Over the last three months, BBC North West Tonight have been filming a series of reports documenting the move to the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

These reports, by health correspondent Gill Dummigan, have now been produced into a 30-minute documentary for BBC iPlayer: Operation Relocation: Hospital on the Move. The documentary follows staff and patients as they prepare to move to the new state-of-the-art hospital, highlighting various parts of the carefully planned process.

From following the outpatient team at St Paul’s Eye Unit through their entire journey of relocation, to the critically time sensitive patient transfers of the Intensive Care Unit and the mammoth task of opening a brand-new Emergency Department, the documentary is a real behind the scenes look at the huge amount of work that is required to relocate an entire hospital, its staff and patients, safely and smoothly.

Operation Relocation: Hospital on the Move is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now.
